Randy Hodgins and Steve McLellan’s lifelong love of comedy was kindled when they met more than 40 years ago in graduate school in Seattle. While managing family and professional work responsibilities, they hosted a one hour comedy radio program on Saturday mornings for 10 years on a small radio station in Olympia, WA and also co-authored two books on northwest popular culture – Seattle on Film (1995) and Wet and Wired (2000). Stuck at home during the early days of the pandemic with hundreds of comedy albums, cassettes and CD’s gathering dust on their shelves, they launched Laugh Tracks Legends of Comedy in May 2020, a weekly mini-program featuring a different comedy icon, with biographical bits and a nice slice of the comedy that made them famous. From standup stars, to stellar sketch teams, to novelty music maestros -- they are all part of our Legends.

Monday Apr 25, 2022
This time we tip our Laugh Tracks caps to Jim Jefferies, a fearless comic who is one of Australia's finest exports. From the standup stage to a highly-regarded FX series to a politically oriented comedy talk show, Jim has never really strayed from who he is -- a very smart and sarcastic observer of the modern condition who is always willing to point out his own foibles in the process. Jan Murray

Tuesday Apr 19, 2022
Travel with us back in time to a Catskills resort in the 1950s. You're having a great time and notice that the featured stand-up comic is also the emcee, the game leader, and the campfire host. That was the mark of a "tummler" -- Yiddish for an all around entertainer who kept the energy high. And, if you were lucky, your tummler might have been the great Jan Murray who became a fixture on television variety, talk, and game shows as well as the standup stage from the 1950s through the 1980s. Sir Lenworth Henry -- better know to us commoners as Lenny Henry -- is one of Britain's true comedy treasures. From an early stint in the Comic Strip comedy troupe, to his own highly rated BBC comedy series, to appearances in shows ranging from Broadchurch to Dr. Who, Lenny continues to delight the Brits to this day. But perhaps his most important and enduring contribution is cofounding the UK's Comic Relief charity and its annual "Red Nose Day" telethon. Now that's something to cheer! Tuesday Mar 29, 2022
Meet Janeane Garafolo, standup star for three decades, accomplished film and tv actor, and one of the pioneers of Air America Radio. An early win as "Funniest Person in Rhode Island" (hey, it's a start) led to gaining fame as a fearless and funny commentator on sexism in society. That led to a run of classic indie films ("Reality Bites", "The Truth About Cats and Dogs") and eventually a role on The Larry Sanders Show. In 2004, she became one of the first voices on Air America Radio, a liberal talk radio network, and today she continues with film and tv roles as well as standup tours. Tuesday Mar 15, 2022
From the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to stages around the world Ireland's Dylan Moran has charmed audiences with a style that is pointed but playful. But standup isn't all there is to Dylan, who has been featured in movies such as "Notting Hill" and "Shaun of the Dead" and starred in "Black Books", a wickedly funny BBC series about a sardonic and constantly inebrieated London bookseller that twice won the BAFTA award for Best Situation Comedy. Lucille Ball
Tuesday Mar 08, 2022
Tuesday Mar 08, 2022
So there are legends and then there are LEGENDS! This time we meet one of the latter -- Lucille Ball, the first lady of American television comedy. From early stage and movie appearances, Lucy worked her way up the show business ladder. When she was offered the chance to adapt a comedy radio show about an "odd couple" marriage for television she jumped at the chance, provided that her real life husband Desi Arnaz played her spouse. "I Love Lucy" was born and her place in the show business pantheon was secure. But there was so much more, not the least being here role as the first female head of a television production company (Desilu productions). No wonder the National Comedy Center Museum is located in her hometown of Jamestown, NY. As always, find extended clips in the comments at laughtracksradio.com and thanks for sharing our shows.
